This loop leads from Kastl through the charming Jura landscape with daphne ("Seidelbast"), pasqueflower ("Küchenschelle"), lady-slipper ("Frauenschuh") and Carline thistle ("Silberdistel"). In Kastl, you should visit the romanesque monastery church built in 1100. The funeral monument of the legendary 17th century war captain Seyfried Schweppermann is here, and the mummified body of little princess Anne, daughter of Emperor Ludwig I of Bavaria in the 14th century, who stayed at Kastl several times. From Kastl the trail runs along the former railway track to Pfaffenhofen. Here the parish church St. Martin (more than one thousand years old and with a charnel house) and the Schweppermann castle are worth a visit. The route goes further on past a fallow deer park and offers a beautiful view after climbing a soft ascent at the foot of the Calvary Mount.
Via the view point of Rechenfels (546 meters high) the route goes uphill with a gorgeous view into the valley of Utzenhofen and through a diversified mixed forest area with bizarre boulder formations and up several hills with marvellous sights into the romantic valley of the Lauterach and of the monastic castle of Kastl, a former Benedictine monastery.
You can find inns with good regional food at Kastl and in Pfaffenhofen.
