Whether you believe or not that the legendary White Lady is haunting the castle of Wolfsegg,  this circular trail from the Naab valley up to Wolfsegg is always a worthwhile and easy excursion. From Pielenhofen this loop leads up to a shadowy forest on softly ascending paths, on partly natural, partly crushed stone grounds. After the hiker has climbed up to the location of Wall with its Romanesque church, which is 1000 years old, the highest point has been reached. The trail to nearby Wolfsegg, which has a history of 700 years, now runs softly downhill on fortified field paths. The three inns of the castle village, which has only about 1000 inhabitants, care for your physical well-being superbly.

A guided tour of the castle, an eerie encounter with the White Lady not excluded, is always worthwhile (opening hours (summer months only): Saturdays, Sundays and holidays 10 – 16 hrs. Or for larger groups after reservation tel. 09409-1660). The loop from Wolfsegg back to Pielenhofen runs in a southwestern direction, until a gorgeous view back to the castle and the village of Wall presents itself in the vicinity of Stetten. In clear weather you can even discern the region of Schwandorf, as well as parts of Regensburg and of the Bavarian forest. Passing Käfersdorf, the route reaches the forest again and leads downhill on nature trails, past the Pielenhofener Berg and back to the starting point of the hiking tour.
