From Dietfurt, this longest route of the Jurasteig goes directly along the forest rim to Mühlbach. From there you walk through the woods to the high plain, where a narrow path quickly leads down into the Altmühl valley. In Meihern the hiker is greeted by a marvellous view of the imposing rocky pinnacles of the Flügelsberg where the peregrine falcons have their nests. On the other side of the Altmühl you pass through Deising and quickly ascend up to the plateau of the Rosskopf where the Jurasteig and the Altmühltal-Panoramaweg meet. From here in the direction of Kelheim the signs of the Altmühltal-Panoramaweg are also valid for the Jurasteig.
After a gorgeous view from the Rosskopf to the castle of Eggersberg and the Altmühl valley, the route leads along juniper heathland down to Altmühlmünster. The trail to Obereggersberg rewards the hiker with flowery forest edges and bizarre rock formations. You pass Schloss Eggersberg with its museum of the local jurisdiction district ("Hofmarksmuseum") and walk down into the valley, where the route leads to Gundlfing along the natural backwaters of the Altmühl. For the last time, there is a steep ascent on this demanding route in the direction of Jachenhausen with a fantastic view of Riedenburg and the Altmühl bend with the castle of Eggersberg. Past the Schneider chapel, you finally reach Riedenburg, the pearl of the Altmühl valley.
